Hello FlowWorld!

I am Leo Gopal, I write code and poetry
(sometimes they are the same thing).

I know I will love it here coming from dev.to.
Starting out as a Psychologist and Hypnotist,
I became a web dev for the last 10 years self-taught.
(They are both just programming in the end)

About me, I only have 3 main guiding principles (ideas):

  • Just try be better than yesterday (repeat until out of stock)
  • Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind. (Always)
  • Its never the goal, its always the process.

Glad to be here!

Any suggestions on what my first post should be?

Hey Leo! Welcome - I love those 3 principles. I'd love to know what your ideal flowstate is or how you enter / exit flow to produce poetry and practice hypnosis plus any fitness, wellbeing and routines you have to practice presence.

Hello. I am Heiko, a 50 year old German living in southern spain and found this community via a post by Ben Haltern.

During the day I am a IT consultant, Project- and Product Manager and software developer, weekends I love to photograph poeple (I own a very small home studio).

I started with a bit fitness in July during the pandemic (in Spain we had a complete lock down from March for a couple of months) and try to keep my routine and motivation. And perhaps to loose some weight one day. Currently my little "home gym" is a cheap second hand excercise bike and a even cheaper rower from Facebook market.

With my growing "fitness needs" (I simple wanted to track my improvements), I took the opportunity to write my own little fitness tracking app (as my home training devices do not have any smart connection, and also as a pet project also to learn something new Ionic in my case) which I will release int the couple of months.

Let's get into the flow!

Hey Heiko! Welcome to the community!

Really happy to hear about your new journey, we do really hope the community can help keep you motivate and to shift some of that weight and build some consistency. One of the things that always helps is to build up your routine in small increments so you don't end up putting yourself off the next time. Same with nutrition. Start with small wins and just build up the habits over-time and they will stick.

Let's do it πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Howdy Folks!

I'm Tomi Adenekan (don't sweat trying to pronounce it), I code, eat, and exercise and learn mandarin.
I was introduced here through dev.to.
I workout every single day (even when I don't feel like it) and I (sometimes :) enjoy it.
I am currently trying out calisthenics and just beginning to realize little I know.
Three main rules for me:

  • Be human.
  • Don't be a jerk.
  • If you don't feel disappointed at failure then you did not try hard enough.

Question:

Are there any good alternatives to pullups because I cannot for the life of me find space for a pullup bar?

Hey Tomi! Great to have you 😎 what an intro πŸ’₯.

Would love to see a post on what your workout week looks like, especially with you training every day, that is some commitment!

I came across an interesting YouTube training routine that offers the same intensity, i’ll post about it later.

Looking forward to sharing idea with you πŸ™πŸ½

Hey y'all!

I came here to find focus and wrangle in my ADHD - I've been struggling with my mental health lately. A lot of financial stress on both me and my partner and I'm trying to figure out how to stay focused on something that can bring in money now - because I have like a couple days to figure out my situation. I'm looking forward to jumping in and chatting with y'all!

Hello guys,
I'm a 22 year old mechatronics engineering senior. Long story short I was very idealistic growing up and got disillusioned when I got to college. Recently came out of a deep depression, very few friends but finally figuring out how this life thing works. Aiming to be one of the best programmers and hopefully do highly impactful science work!
I discovered flow(consciously) after reading Mihaly's book and how I access it is through computer programming. Writing code helps me to forget everything else and live in the moment. Glad to be here and hope to make a lot of friends.
Note: I read a lot so I'm up for discussions on several topics, Thanks all πŸ€—

I do Muay Thai too! Started about 30 years ago. Always wanted to do more BJJ but have never got round to it. Can’t believe Karate is now an Olympic sport πŸ™Œ

Awh wicked do you have a fave technique in Muay Thai? Me too so pleased they've included it for this Olympics in its birthplace. Although apparently it won't return for Paris 2024 :<
