Hello new community members!
So you've been reading flowstate.to and you're ready to create a post. Amazing! Here's how to do that, and what to do next:
Remember that posts can be questions, things that you have found on the Internet, long informative posts, stories, whatever really as long as it is useful for the our fitness and wellbeing community.
You can also cross post articles from your own blog without losing any of that SEO juice or Google ranking. Just set the original blog link in the "post options" section which i'll describe as the last thing in this guide.
1. Sign Up
If you don't already have an account on FlowState, you'll need one to create a post. You can do that by signing up here
2. Click "Create Post"
From a PC Once you sign in, there will be a big button in the upper right corner that says "Create Post" - click it!
On Mobile The "Create Post" button is accessible again from the top right, just click on your profile picture and select "Create post" from the menu.
3. Pick a Good, Descriptive Title
Most of the time, people will only see your title - and they will have to decide to click or not based just on that. So make your title stand out! Tell the readers exactly what they will get from the post, and then deliver on that promise.
Here's an example of what your post will look like:
Why are my emotions hijacking my workout?
Jayne ・ Jan 6 ・ 4 min read
4. Choose your 'Tags'
Tags are super important! Readers on FlowState can follow certain tags, so appropriately tagging your posts will get your posts in the feeds of the most people (who actually want to read that content!)
For tag ideas, check the left sidebar of FlowState once you're logged in. There is a tags link there. You'll be able to see all the popular tags, as well as other popular tags on the site (example below). Alternatively, once logged in, just click here
When you have decided what tags you want to use (and you can use whatever tags you want even if they are not listed) you insert them into you article like this:
5. (Optional) Choose a Cover Image
Cover images are entirely optional, there are 2 options for this, the first is to click on the "add a cover image" button in the post editor to open the image adding dialog, then choose a file to upload as your cover images.
The second option is to just drag your image over to the "add a cover image" button and drop it, you'll see it will automatically upload.
Cover images give visual interest to your post, plus they show up on Twitter if someone tweets out a link to your post!
6. Inserting images in your posts
Inserting images can split up the text and make your posts easier to read and way more engaging.
There are 2 simple options for uploading images within your posts, the first is to just click the 'Upload image' button that stays sticky at the top of the editor, once uploaded you will be shown a link to the image, click the copy button (to the right) and then paste the link where you want the image to show up.
The other option is to place the cursor where you want the image to appear and then just drag the image and drop it at that location.
7. Inserting the original blog link if you are cross posting from your own blog.
FlowState fully supports cross posting from your own blog, this ensures that Google and other search engines know where the original article is located. This means that you'll rank higher than us in searches and Google will know that there is no duplication in content.
To set the original link, hit the small options icon next to the 'Save changes' button (it looks like this 👇🏼).
Then paste the link from the original blog post where it says Canonical URL:
Click 'Done' - now when you hit publish, you'll see the link to the original article right at the top of the post.
That's it! There are lots of other things that you can do like insert gifs and other cool stuff, there is a guide to the right of the editor that explains some of that stuff but you can also reach out to us at email@example.com if you need some help getting started, we don't mind helping at all.
