How do vegans get enough protein to build muscle?

Thinking of turning vegan. Here is my plan:

  1. Cut out red meat first.
  2. Eat just chicken and fish.
  3. Cut out chicken.
  4. Cut out fish.
  5. Begin to remove dairy products from by diet.

One of the things I am a bit confused about though is protein, I train and want to consume around 170g of protein per day. Bit unsure of where to get the quantity and also whether the type of protein when vegan is different than eating meat.

Heya,

Welcome!

Here is a good list of vegan stuff that includes high protein

  • Beans
  • Seeds
  • Grains
  • Nuts
  • Pulses
  • Lentils

I am not a vegan myself tho..

Also, worth looking at myprotein.com who now do loads of plant based protein (pea seems really popular)

Hiya! Excellent vegan protein sources include:

  • Hemp powder (54g protein per 100g)
  • Spirulina powder (about 60g)
  • Sesame seeds (25g)

Flaxseed and all kinds of nuts are really protein-rich aswell
