I do have a standing desk, although I don't have an actual data to prove whether it's good or bad for my body 🤷‍♂️. What I can tell you is that I turn my desk into "standing" mode at least couple times a day for at least couple minutes (but very often for ~1h or so). I often do that also during the calls while at work so I can walk around my office.

The common sense tells me it is healthy and good for my body. But again - I don't think I can prove it in any way :).

Nevertheless I highly recommend investing in a high quality standing desk (yes, a bit more expensive probably) - while in standing mode some of the cheaper ones like to be a bit shaky which is a bit annoying while working.

I like the idea of alternating it. My watch is always nagging me to get up and walkabout. Would be even better if I could automate it, when my watch notifies me to stand, then my desk just starts increasing its height automatically!

Now that is a really cool idea for an automation project!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I have experimented with a makeshift standing desk in the past and it felt good to switch between sitting and standing a few times a day. I also often find myself standing and walking around when I am taking phone calls at home. Last time I was at IKEA, I tested a standing desk and also found that it was really shaky and not the best quality so I wasn't convinced at the time.
