I have switched up a few things with my fitness routine that are working out quite well for me. For the first time in my workout regime I have started to reduce the weight and increase the frequency.
Not sure if it's an age thing (I am now 48) but I began to find that muscle ache due to lactic acid was stalling a return to my home gym.
Most of my workouts still orbit the Les Mills Body Pump program (one of the best investments I made as the pandemic kicked off).
I am now training almost every day, here is what I am doing.
Day 1:
Les Mills body pump tracks:
- Warm up
- Lunges
- Triceps
- Shoulders
- Core
- Warm down
Day 2:
Road bike, up in the Devon hills, about an hour.
Day 3:
Les Mills body pump tracks:
- Warm up
- Lunges
- Chest
- Biceps
- Core
- Warm down
Day 4:
Les Mills body pump warm up
- Speed ball
- Muay Thai bag work
- Les Mills core
- Les Mills warm down
Day 5:
Road bike again, up in the Devon hills, about an hour.
I'll also take the time, each night to stretch for about 30 mins.
I feel like I am getting more work in and enjoying it (that's the important bit) and I am not sorta dreading getting back in the home gym, maybe that's because I can push it a bit too hard and then suffer the consequences, not realising that it was a bit counter productive for me.
Soon i'll begin to start my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey, something I have been holding off on until my kids have grown up a bit (as I know I'll find it addictive).
