I'll actively seek it out. If it's raining at home (let's face it, in the UK it does a lot of raining) then I'll purposely sit in my car and just listen, or I'll find the nearest window and just relax.
I like it best when I am in a city, watching the way the light changes the mood and the sounds (especially if it's a storm) I just find it really relaxing. If I am in a city and a downpour starts, I'll try and nip into a cafe, grab a coffee and relax and just watch the rain.
I also have a must have rain app on my phone called 'rain rain'. Not only does it have a huge selection of rain and storm sounds, it also allows me to mix them together so that I can create the perfect storm in my AirPods โ I love it and you can download it here it has 58k 4.8 ratings, it looks like it's also available on Android here
Listening to rain also helps with tinnitus (which I suffer from in my left ear), my wife and I have also mixed up a thunderstorm to listen to as we drift off to sleep, however it's not recommended to do that too often.
What sounds and experiences have a calming effect on you?

I also love rain, it brings this sense of calmness for me. I really enjoy reading when it rains all day. Something about the sound of rain and thunderstorms that puts me in the mood to read for hours. I find that im more productive with just about anything im doing on rainy days.
I also enjoy driving when it rains (preferably with little to no traffic). The reflections of lights on the wet ground and the sound of tires speeding through rain are quite pleasing to the ear. I will say though, there is nothing more annoying than driving during hard rain fall with worn out windshield wipers. Gotta keep those in good working condition!
The "Rain Rain Sleep Sounds" app sounds intriguing, going to check it out, thank you for sharing!
ahhh a fellow rain lover โ I often find myself checking for the next storm, I also have a dream of living next to the sea and watching a storm come in ๐
Living next to the sea would be magical indeed! Apart from rain/storms would also get to surf whenever you wanted.
I also like swimming when it rains lightly. Last time I was in Cuba got to experience this a few times and it was awesome.
I really enjoy โstorm chasingโ photography. I follow a few accounts on Instagram like Mike and Tyler.
Thanks for the heads up on those IG accounts!
Not far from me, someone tried to recreate a Tony Stark type experience on the edge of cliff in a stunning area between Saunton and Croyde bay in the South West of the UK but he over estimated the work and lost everything, including his family ๐ฉ itโs the saddest episode of Grand Designs ever..
Dream house overlooking the Atlantic for epic storm viewing
That is brutal! Hope they can get the project done eventually. I looked up the house on Google Earth and I can see what people mean about the ugly fencing blocking the ocean view.
I ended up taking a quick tour down Saunton Rd. and found this awesome 360 photo of Saunton Beach ๐
Saunton Sands is such an stunning beach, as you pass down that road it just extends for miles, itโs totally panoramic (well it was). Robbie Williams also shot the video for Angels there (appreciate you may have no idea who that is ๐)
I'm deffo gonna check out that rain rain app ๐ I love the percussive nature of rain. Love camping in the rain and hearing it patter onto the tent! Also in the woods hearing the rain drip through the trees is just lush
tent rain is just the beeeeest โบ๏ธ โ
We have rain sounds as one of our go-to sleep sounds on our Echo
Very nice. Have you both camped out in the Tesla yet? I bet thatโs nice in the rain ๐
Nah, we keep saying we will, but we've been lazy ๐
